FTP Session Lost Shelling Out Using "!" and CTRL+C Commands

SYMPTOMS

On your computer running Windows NT, if you use the ! command to shell out of an FTP session followed by a CTRL+C command, the shell hangs and the FTP session is disconnected.

This problem occurs sporadically.

RESOLUTION

Avoid using CTRL+C after you shell out of an FTP session.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT Workstation and Server versions 3.5, 3.51, and 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
