The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSFiles or directories created in 8.3 file format on a NetWare server using Client Services for NetWare (CSNW) or Gateway Service for NetWare (GSNW) appear in uppercase only when the OS/2 Name Space service is installed.
CAUSEIf OS/2 Name Space is installed on a NetWare server, CSNW or GSNW should allow you to create files or directories in any character case. This works correctly for files or directories in long filename convention.
RESOLUTIONTo correct this problem, apply the fix mentioned below and then do the following: WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows NT to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.51. This problem was corrected in the latest Windows NT 3.51 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
