The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to change passwords on a Windows NT Server from AppleTalk or Banyan Vines clients, the attempt fails.
CAUSEPrevious versions of Samsrv.dll did not have support for AppleTalk or Banyan vines applications that made Security Account Manager (SAM) API calls to change passwords. This fix was primarily included for Exchange clients that were having problems changing their user passwords on these networks.
WORKAROUNDObtain the fix mentioned below, or upgrade to Windows NT Workstation and Server version 4.0.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.51. This problem was corrected in the latest Windows NT 3.51 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
