The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn Windows NT, when you read or write to the floppy disk, the floppy drive LED is on, but there is no response afterward and Windows NT hangs. Windows for Workgroups 3.11 and MS-DOS floppy disk access functions normally.
CAUSEThere is a problem with Windows NT version 3.51 FLOPPY.SYS file.
WORKAROUNDReplace the existing %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\FLOPPY.SYS file with the Windows NT 3.5 FLOPPY.SYS file located in i386 directory on CD-ROM. File size =19,520. Date = 9/4/94.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.51. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
