The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMS Powerbuilder client server applications that utilize the IPX/SPX Compatible Protocol (NWLINK) running under Windows for Workgroups or Windows 95 may experience a performance problem. The query from this client against SQL Server running under Windows NT may take a long time to process. Other similar types of applications may encounter the same problem. CAUSE Because the DIRECTHOST feature only supports half-duplex communication (only one command outstanding on the IPX session at a time), this feature causes a decrease in perfomance with network applications that use named pipes to connect.
RESOLUTIONDisable the DIRECTHOST feature. Steps to disable the feature in Windows for Workgroups:
