The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSA thread in Tapisrv.exe begins using an excessive amount of processor time (as much as 95% to 100%) when you run a TAPI server application under a heavy load of phone calls.
CAUSEThis problem occurs when the thread that is using all the processor time has become stuck in an infinite loop due to a problem in the ring management code.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the following fix or wait for the next Windows NT service pack. This fix should have the following time stamp:
10/24/97 02:51p 220,944 Tapisrv.exe (Alpha) 10/24/97 02:19p 141,072 Tapisrv.exe (Intel)NOTE: This hotfix requires TAPI 2.1. Applying this hotfix with a previous version of TAPI may cause unpredictable behavior.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
