SYMPTOMSWhen a 16-bit MS-DOS-based application uses FindFirst or FindNext requests to search for files, the results may not be complete. This may cause the application to not operate properly.
CAUSEThe Windows NT Virtual DOS Machine (NTVDM) subsystem does not properly handle the scenario where a returned value from a function indicates the buffer that was passed to it was too small to hold all of the data.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the following fix or wait for the next Windows NT service pack. This fix should have the following time stamp:
10/29/97 7:02PM 405 Ntvdm.exe (Intel) 10/29/97 7:00PM 2,633 Ntvdm.exe (Alpha) STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
