SUMMARY

This article describes the Select option in the Volume Control tool for sound cards.

MORE INFORMATION

Some items in the Volume Control tool may contain a Select option instead of a Mute option. If a Windows NT sound driver does not report that an item can be muted, the Volume Control tool displays a Select option and does not use any muting commands for the device.

The Select option is the opposite of the Mute option--an item must be selected before it is enabled.
