Unable to Set WINS Administrator Filter for Lowercase Letters

SYMPTOMS

When you set a filter to view names in Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) Administrator, all characters are converted to uppercase letters and you cannot search for names with lowercase characters.

RESOLUTION

In the WINS Administrator program, click Preferences on the Options menu, then clear the LAN Manager - compatible check box. This will the allow the Set Filter to use both uppercase and lowercase characters in the search.
