Services for Macintosh May Cause STOP 0x0A During High Load

Last reviewed: November 5, 1997

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

While running Windows NT with Services for Macintosh (SFM), Windows NT may encounter a kernel STOP code 0x0A.

NOTE: This problem has been observed while using a SysKonnect FDDI adapter, but it may occur with other NDIS drivers as well.

CAUSE

Under very high load, Services for Macintosh may use an otherwise unused code path. The reason for this may be that a network packet was indicated twice and the AppleTalk protocol does not handle this correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
