Some of these instructions may be misleading or confusing. This article discusses and clarifies these instructions.
MORE INFORMATIONPage 161 of the Start Here manual gives instructions on how to install the Microsoft Modem Sharing Client Software on a computer running Microsoft Windows for Workgroups. The modem sharing client software will work on a Windows for Workgroups client, however, it will not function correctly when used with either the Remote Access Service (RAS) or the Terminal tool that ships with Windows for Workgroups. RAS and Terminal both require the communications driver, Comm.drv, that ships with Windows for Workgroups. The Modem Sharing Client Software provides a specialized communications driver, Serrdr.drv, to connect to remote COM ports.
