The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server versions 3.51 and 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation versions 3.51 and 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to run the Btrieve for Windows NT software from Windows NT, the following error message may appear:

   Can't load VDM ipx/spx support.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem:

  1. Check for the following entries in the Autoexec.nt file:

    lh %SystemRoot%\system32\nw16 lh %SystemRoot%\system32\vwipxspx

  2. If the entries are present, check to see whether the following associated files actually exist:

          %SystemRoot%\system32\nw16.exe
          %SystemRoot%\system32\vwipxspx.exe
          %SystemRoot%\system32\vwipxspx.dll

If these associated files do not exist, expand them from the Windows NT CD-ROM or install Gateway Services for NetWare (GSNW) or Client Services for NetWare (CSNW) which will correctly copy these files to their appropriate locations.
