The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you use roaming profiles for domain users to log on to multiple workstations, the position of the icons on the desktop may be lost. When this position is lost, the icons are rearranged on the left-hand side of the screen.
CAUSEThis occurs because icon position is not properly stored on the server that stores the profile so that they are displayed in the same position on all workstations.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the following fix or wait for the next Windows NT service pack. This fix should have the following time stamp:
10/02/97 03:27 238,352 Explorer.exe (Intel) 10/02/97 03:25 395,536 Explorer.exe (Alpha) STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
