CDFS Does Not Complete IRPs Correctly

SYMPTOMS

An I/O request to the Compact Disc File System (CDFS) to close the last reference to a file never completes. This could cause a program to stop responding or return errors when trying to access information on a compact disc.

CAUSE

The Compact Disc File System is not completing I/O Request Packets (IRPs) correctly. If the last reference to a File Control Block (FCB) is being closed, the IRP is not completed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
