The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSA bugcheck occurs while running a POSIX application that forks many times and calls exec() API from the forked processes.
CAUSEAn API used for freeing virtual memory was not handling fork prototype page table entries (PTE) correctly.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 U.S. Service Pack.
