DNS Does Not Support $INCLUDE Statement

SYMPTOMS

The $INCLUDE statement in the Domain Name Service (DNS) database files does not work. The names in the included file are not resolved by the DNS.

CAUSE

Microsoft's DNS server currently does not support the $INCLUDE statement.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 U.S. Service Pack. Query on the following work in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without spaces) for information on obtaining the service pack:
