NTBackup Cannot Restore Font Files That Are in Use

SYMPTOMS

When you use NTBackup to restore the %SystemRoot%\Fonts directory, any font files that are in use will not be restored. The backup log will record the following error:

   You do not have permission to access portions of WINNT\fonts\DOSAPP.FON.
   Please see the owner or administrator to get permission.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
