The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSNtbackup.exe in Windows NT version 4.0 Service Pack 3 adds an additional space at the start of each line in the log when the log is written to disk using the /l (lowercase "el") option.
CAUSEThe function that writes the log file takes a value that determines the size to write. The size passed to this function was too big by one byte.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
