The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf you move a PCI network adapter from one PCI slot to another without changing its configuration, Windows NT no longer recognizes the adapter.
CAUSEThis occurs due to a problem in PCI cards that cannot detect themselves.
RESOLUTIONPerform one of the following to work around this problem:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.51 and Windows NT version 4.0 Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
