The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSThe static <1Ch> entries in your Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) servers are not being overwritten by dynamic entries, even though you have Migrate on/off enabled.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, you will need to manually delete the static mappings using one of the following methods:
NOTE: This is especially important in the case of <1Ch> entries, because these are queried by clients requesting domain controllers for domain logon validation. If clients are unable to get a list of domain controllers from WINS they may get a Domain Controller not found error message and in many cases lose access to domain resources.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0 We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
