SYMPTOMSWhen you log on to Windows NT, you may receive either of the following prompts:
CAUSEThis dialog box indicates that there is a locally stored profile that is newer than the server-based profile. NOTE: Both profiles do not have to belong to the same user.
RESOLUTIONWARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. To resolve this issue, add a REG_DWORD value name DeleteRoamingCache to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ Winlogon\DeleteRoamingCacheSet the value data to 1.
MORE INFORMATIONAdding the DeleteRoamingCache value and setting the value data to 1 forces locally cached profiles to be deleted when users with domain profiles log off. When the value data is set to 0, locally cached profiles are saved to disk. By default, locally cached profiles are saved to disk. The value data of 1 is designed to conserve disk space.
