SYMPTOMSUsers with multiprocessor computers may see their computer lock up completely when 16-bit operations are causing a heavy load on the system. The intensive 16-bit code running in a Virtual Dos Machine (VDM) causes all the processors to be in a waiting state trying to get or release a spinlock.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the hotfix below, or wait for the next service pack.

A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.
