Extra Page Printed on Epson Stylus Color Printers

Last reviewed: February 17, 1998
Article ID: Q174540
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When printing in color mode to an Epson Stylus printer (Color, Pro, Pro XL, Pro XL+) from a computer running Windows NT 4.0, extra lines of different color may be present in the output and cause the extra data to be printed on a second page. These extra lines will print on the second page after the 3 mm top margin if the maximum printable area is used in the application.

CAUSE

With banding printers, there are normally extra lines in the last band that should not be sent, usually because they are blank. However, if the application sends data outside the "imageable" area, these extra lines are printed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the following fix or wait for the next Windows NT service pack.

This fix should have the following time stamp:

   07/02/97 08:45p 169,232 Gdi32.dll (Intel)
   07/02/97 07:45p 306,960 Gdi32.dll (Alpha)

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
