SYMPTOMSIn the Help About box of Windows NT Explorer, the second line of text may read:
Version 4.0 (Build 1381: Service Pack 3, RC 1.The last two digits are truncated and it should read:
Version 4.0 (Build 1381: Service Pack 3, RC 1.76)You may be unable to determine which release candidate of the Service Pack is installed.
CAUSEThe number of characters in the text string exceeds the number allowed in the dialog box.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the following fix or wait for the next Windows NT service pack. This fix should have the following time stamp:
06/02/97 06:53p 1,277,200 shell32.dll (Intel) 06/02/97 05:53p 1,864,976 shell32.dll (Alpha) STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
