The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSDrive letters mapped to other network drives by the SUBST command may not show up in the Drives box of a 16-bit Open common dialog box. This happens for all 16-bit programs that use GetOpenFileName() to display the File Open common dialog box.
CAUSEInternally, there are two threads working together to display the Drives box; the lack of synchronization between those two threads causes the symptom described above.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the following fix or wait for the next Windows NT service pack. This fix should have the following time stamp:
12/04/97 05:25p 189,712 Comdlg32.dll (Intel) 12/04/97 06:22p 365,328 Comdlg32.dll (Alpha) STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
