SYMPTOMSDismounting a Macintosh volume while Macintosh clients are still connected to that volume may result in a stop screen if the administrator immediately attempts to disconnect those sessions through the Users option of the Macfile application in Control Panel.
CAUSEWhen the remote client is in the process of disconnecting and the administrator also starts disconnecting, there is an extremely small timing window where this memory may get freed twice.
RESOLUTIONObtain the following fix or wait for the next Windows NT service pack. This fix should have the following time stamp: 12/12/97 08:58p 130,000 sfmsrv.sys (Intel) 12/12/97 08:54p 233,616 sfmsrv.sys (Alpha) STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
