SYMPTOMSWhen trying to rename files that are greater than 130 characters using Client Services for NetWare (CSNW) from a Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0 system, you may receive the following error message:
Error cannot rename the filename you specified is invalid or too longThis problem is likely to manifest itself in applications that use the "save to temporary file, delete original, and rename the temporary file" process of saving changes to files.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the following fix or wait for the next Windows NT service pack. This fix should have the following time stamp:
03/17/98 04:18p 152,784 Nwrdr.sys (Intel) 03/17/98 04:19p 277,616 Nwrdr.sys (Alpha) STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
