Err Msg: System Error 2: File Not Found

Last reviewed: May 6, 1997
Article ID: Q89988
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1

The following error information is displayed upon boot up of Microsoft Windows NT if there is an I/O port conflict:

   A system error has occurred
   System error 2 has occurred
The system cannot find the file specified

If you receive an error 2, ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND, the redirector device name cannot be found. When this error occurs, the most likely cause is an I/O port-address conflict. To determine where the conflict is occurring, remove any extraneous devices and reconfigure the I/O port address to be compatible with the settings on the card.
