  • Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

Selected paragraphs with different left indents change to the left indentation setting of the first paragraph when you apply hanging indent formatting to the selected paragraphs in Word for Windows.

CAUSE

When Word applies hanging indent formatting, both the Left and First Line indentation settings change. When a selection contains more than one paragraph, Word changes all Left indentation settings to match the first paragraph in the selection.

WORKAROUND

Apply the hanging indent formatting to all the paragraphs first, then change the left indentation settings individually.
