SYMPTOMSIf the PostScript printer driver (PSCRIPT.DRV) is active without a WPD (Windows printer description) file installed, the following error message occurs when you change the page orientation to landscape in your Word for Windows document:
One or more margins are set outside the printable area of the page. Choose the Fix button to increase the appropriate margin.If you choose the Fix button, Word incorrectly sets the left margin to 2.75 inches, or to some other arbitrarily chosen value.
CAUSEThis error message occurs when you are using a non-printer-specific Postscript driver (PSCRIPT.DRV), without an associated WPD file. When you use this configuration, PostScript Printer is selected in the Printers list in the Print Setup dialog box.
RESOLUTIONTo correct the problem do the following: Using the Printer icon in Windows Control Panel, install a printer-specific PostScript printer driver such as the Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet IIIsi Postscript driver. When you install a printer-specific PostScript driver, Windows places a WPD file (supplied with Windows or by your printer manufacturer) in the <WINDOWS>\SYSTEM subdirectory (where <WINDOWS> is the name of your Windows directory).
WORKAROUNDUse the following instructions to correct the incorrect margin setting that occurs if you choose the Fix button in the error message dialog box:
