WD6X: Template Macros, Toolbars, Keyboard, and Menu Changes Lost

Last reviewed: February 5, 1998
Article ID: Q105906
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

If you save a master document in Word Template format, Word for Windows removes all macros, new and customized toolbars, and keyboard and menu assignments from that template. None of these appear when you open the .DOT template file or create a new Word document based on the template.

WORKAROUND

Create a separate template that contains your macros, new and customized toolbars, and keyboard and menu assignments. Do not save the template as a master document. In the master document, load the template as an Add-In using the Templates command on the File menu.

For more information, search for "add-ins" using the Help menu.
