SUMMARY

If you unlink any embedded object in Microsoft Word version 6.x or later, Word creates a Word picture object.

In Word 2.x for Windows, if you unlink an embedded object, Word creates a Windows metafile with no associated field code.

NOTE: Pressing CTRL+SHIFT+F9 unlinks most Word fields.

MORE INFORMATION

When you double-click a picture object, Word displays it for editing in the picture editor. To determine what picture editor Word is using, use the appropriate method for your version of Word:

Word 6.x, 7.x, 97

  1. Click Options on the Tools menu.

  2. Select the Edit tab.

3 The Picture Editor is shown at the bottom of this dialog box.

Word 98 Macintosh Edition

  1. Click Preferences on the Tools menu.

  2. Select the Edit tab.

  3. The Picture Editor is shown at the bottom of this dialog box.

After you update the picture object, the selected picture editor displays as the object type in the EMBED field code. To view the field code, turn the field codes on by pressing ALT+F9 (Windows) or OPTION+F9 (Macintosh).
