More Than 2500 Styles Causes Low Memory Error MessageLast reviewed: February 5, 1998Article ID: Q106451 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSThe following error message may appear when you choose Style from the Format menu or choose Templates from the File menu and choose the Organizer button, even though the system has plenty of available memory:
Not enough memory to complete the operation. CAUSEWord 6.0 for Windows allows the use of around 4000 styles per document or template. This limit is larger than the number of items that can be displayed in a list box. The number of styles that can be listed in the Style dialog box or the Organizer dialog box is around 2500 before the above error message is displayed.
STATUSMicrosoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
WORKAROUNDThis is a list box limitation. Increasing available memory and/or disk space will not make a difference. You must remove unnecessary styles.
