SUMMARY:
Word for Windows includes a batch conversion macro that allows you to
convert multiple files from another file format to Word file format and
from Word file format to another file format. The macro is located in the
conversion template in the C:\MSOffice\Winword\Macros subdirectory.
If the conversion template is not installed, rerun the Word setup program
to install this file.

To run the Word batch conversion macro:
- On the File menu, click Templates.
- Click Add.
- Locate the C:\MSOffice\Winword\Macros subdirectory. Select the
Convert7.dot (Word 7.0) or Convert.dot (Word 6.0) file, and click OK.
- Click OK.
- On the Tools menu, click Macro.
- From the list of macros, click BatchConversion.
- Click Run.
- Follow the prompts.

The Batch Conversion Process
- Specify if you are converting from another format to Word format
or to another format from Word format.
- Select the conversion choice from list of installed converters.
Note: Only one converter can be chosen at one time. You can't convert
files of multiple formats at the same time.
- Provide the drive and directory where Word should retrieve the files
to convert.
- Provide the drive and directory where Word should place the
converted files.
NOTE: If you select the directory where the files are currently located,
Word will prompt you to provide a new filename extension for each file.
To avoid this, either select a different directory or choose to rename
all the files before you start the batch conversion process in step 5
below.
- Select the files to be converted by:
- Double-clicking listed filenames.

- Choosing the Select All button. (You can remove and rename selected
files from this dialog.
Batch conversion occurs.
Batch Conversion Information for Word 1.x and 2.x
Microsoft Word for Windows versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, and 2.0 each include a
batch file conversion macro that allows you to convert multiple files from
a foreign format to Word for Windows in an automated manner. In versions
1.x, this macro was available in the supplied sample document EXAMPLES.DOC.
In version 2.0, the macro is available in the document NEWMACRO.DOC.
