The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0
  • Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.1

SYMPTOMS

When you open a document that contains a data source from MS Query, if Word for Windows cannot locate the data source, the error message that occurs does not include the filename of the missing data source. Only a space appears in place of the filename.

This does not happen if the database is from a different data source, such as ODBC (open database connectivity) or Microsoft Excel.
