"Word Is Updating the Fields..." Remains on Screen

SYMPTOMS

When you update more than one field at a time, the message "Word is updating fields in the document" may remain on the screen much longer than if you had updated each field individually.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 6.0 for Windows and the Macintosh. This problem was corrected in Word version 7.0 for Windows 95.
