SYMPTOMSIn the French international, localized version of Word 6.0 for Windows, if you save a mail merge error report document using the default name (ERRFUSION1.DOC), the following error message occurs:
This is not a valid filename. (ERRFUSION1.DOC)This does not happen in the U.S. version of Word, which assigns the default filename MERGERR1.DOC for your mail merge error report document.
CAUSEThe filename ERRFUSION1.DOC contains more than eight letters, which means MS-DOS and Windows cannot use the name.
STATUSWe are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
WORKAROUNDDo not use the default filename for the mail merge error report. You must rename the file to save it.
