The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0, 6.0a

SYMPTOMS

You specify a value less than .01 inch (to and including .00000 inches) in the Hyphenation Zone box, but Word uses .01 inch for the zone. (To locate the Hyphenation Zone setting, choose Hyphenation from the Tools menu.) Also, Word does not give you the appropriate error message to warn you of the invalid value:

The measurement must be between 0.01" and 22".

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0 and 6.0a. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

RESOLUTION

Type in a value between .01 inch and 22 inches for the hyphenation zone.
