The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you format a paragraph to have a first line indent of any number greater than 0 (zero), or if you change a style to have this formatting, the first line formatting is not retained when you start a second paragraph. Similarly, if you set a left or right paragraph indent, Word retains the indent formatting for one paragraph only; Word removes the indent formatting for the next paragraph.
CAUSEThis problem occurs if Help For WordPerfect Users is selected.
RESOLUTIONTurn off WordPerfect Help with one of the following methods. Method 1: a. From the Tools menu, choose Options. b. Select the General tab. c. Clear the Help For WordPerfect Users check box.Method 2: a. On the status bar, double-click the letters WPH. b. Choose the Options button. c. Clear the Help For WordPerfect Users check box.Method 3: Word 6.x and 7.x: When installing Word, choose No to the prompt to install help for users of WordPerfect. MORE INFORMATIONThe only formatting lost by selecting this WordPerfect option is Paragraph/Indents (that is, left and right indents and special). Any other formatting is retained correctly.
