The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SYMPTOMS

In Word, some table borders that appear in print preview correctly print incorrectly.

For example, if you format a three-row, two-column table with a top border in cell A1 and a left border in cell A3, the border appears correctly in print preview but prints with an unwanted top border in cell A3.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word 6.0, 6.0a and 6.0c for Windows. This problem was corrected in Word version 7.0 for Windows 95.

WORKAROUND

Format the unwanted borders as white:

  1. Select the cell that contains the unwanted border.

  2. From the Format menu, choose Borders And Shading.

  3. Select the Borders tab.

  4. Under Border, select the unwanted border.

  5. From the Color list, select white and then choose OK.
