SYMPTOMSWhen you create a custom multilevel list (using the Bullets And Numbering command from the Format menu) in Word, you cannot make the resulting format the default for use in other Word documents. The Bullets And Numbering command in Word creates a document-only format.
WORKAROUNDTo store the multilevel list format you created so you can quickly apply the format to future documents, use the Macro Recorder in Word. To record the macro, follow these steps:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Products listed above. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows and Word 98 Macintosh Edition.
MORE INFORMATIONCustom formatting (that is, manual formatting or applying styles) for your multilevel lists should be applied AFTER the multilevel list format has been applied.
