The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a

SYMPTOMS

Word hangs (stops responding) when running a macro containing an InsertCaption statement. This problem occurs when the InsertCaption statement contains a .TitleAutoText= argument, and the AutoText entry contains a table, OLE object, or footnote.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Redefine the AutoText entry to include only the text that you want inserted after the label. Do not include a table, OLE object, or footnote.
