INVCE.DOT in Word Developer's Kit Displays Incorrect Results

SYMPTOMS

The invoice example template (INVCE.DOT) in the Word Developer's Kit displays incorrect results for the Amount field in the third line, the TOTAL field, and the Balance Due field.

CAUSE

These calculation fields contain incorrect cell references.

RESOLUTION

Use the following steps to correct the formulas in the INVCE.DOT template.

  1. Open INVCE.DOT (usually found in the C:\WINWORD\TEMPLATE subdirectory).

  2. From the Tools menu, choose Unprotect Document.

  3. Double-click the third Amount field.

  4. In the Expression field, change "A3" to "A4" (without the quotation marks). Choose OK.

  5. Double-click the TOTAL field.

  6. In the Expression field, change "B10,B11" to "B1,B2" (without the quotation marks). Choose OK.

  7. Double-click the Balance Due field.

  8. In the Expression field, change "B12 - B13" to "B3 - B4" (without the quotation marks).

  9. From the Tools menu, choose Protect Document.

  10. Select the Forms option button and choose OK.

  11. Save and close the template.
