The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a

SYMPTOMS

When you are typing in a text box or callout, the insertion point or text is not visible, does not appear until you have typed an undetermined amount, or disappears as you type.

CAUSE

The paragraph indent inside the text box or callout has a negative indent. By design, a negative indent acts as a margin release to allow you to type text in the margin area.

RESOLUTION

Remove the negative indent. To do this, click inside the text box or callout. From the Format menu, choose Paragraph, and set the left and/or right indents to 0 (zero).
