The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf the Borders toolbar is active, single-clicking the ruler does not add or remove tab stops while in Normal View. You must click a second time to successfully add or remove the tab stop.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
WORKAROUNDSMethod 1: Switch to page layout view before setting the tabs. Method 2: Turn off the Borders toolbar.
