SYMPTOMSIn Word 6.0, when you compare one version of a document to another document that does not have an extension, Word does not mark any revisions in the first document. In Word 2.x, when you compare a document that has an extension to one that does not, Word generates the following error if the document does not include a period after the filename:
This document does not exist. If the filename includes a period, Word 2.x marks the revisions but does not indicate whether the revisions were deleted or added.
