SYMPTOMSWhen you print from Word for Windows to a shared printer over a Novell network, the printout may contain "garbage" characters, any graphics in your document may print incompletely, or the document may fail to print. It may also drop characters. You may be able to print successfully from other Windows-based applications such as Windows Write and Windows Paintbrush.
CAUSEThis problem may occur when your printer is connected to a network server using Novell NetWare if any of the following Novell printing options are set:
Form Feed Enable Tabs Enable Timeout Enable Banner WORKAROUNDMethod 1: Use the Novell NetWare Printcon utility or Windows Control Panel (choose the Printers icon) to clear the Novell printing options listed above.Method 2: (You must have supervisory rights or be a PrintServer Operator.) On the Novell Server, start PConsole, choose Print Server Information, choose the print server name, choose Print Server Configuration, choose Printer Configuration, choose the printer model, and increase the "Buffer Size in K" setting from 3K to 10K.
