Micrografx Draw 3.0 Object Doesn't Update with HP4 Drivers

Last reviewed: February 5, 1998

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a
  • Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.1

SYMPTOMS

A Micrografx Draw 3.0 OLE object does not update in Word 6.0 when you are using the Hewlett-Packard (HP) HP4/4M or HP4P/4MP printer driver. This behavior occurs when Word updates a pasted object, or after you choose Object from the Insert menu, and when you are using the HP printer driver versions 31.V1.18, 31.V1.20 and 31.V1.27.

These objects do update correctly with the HP4Si and HP4SiMX PostScript printer using the Microsoft PostScript printer driver version 3.58.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 6.0 and 6.0a for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Select a different printer as your default printer while you are inserting or editing the Micrografx Draw object. After updating the object, reselect your HP4 printer.
