The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

If you turn off screen updating in your Word for the Macintosh macro using the WordBasic ScreenUpdating statement, the scroll box may still move along the scroll bar. In other words, the ScreenUpdating statement does not prevent display changes on the scroll bar.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 6.0 for the Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

When screen updating is turned off (ScreenUpdating 0), movements of the scroll box in response to the following WordBasic statements may display on the screen:

EndOfDocument EndOfWindow HLine HPage Hscroll LineDown LineUp NextField NextObject NextPage PageDown PageUp PrevField PrevObject PrevPage StartOfDocument StartOfWindow VPage VScroll

For online information about the ScreenUpdating statement, double-click the Help button on the Standard toolbar, and then type "wordbasic help" (without the quotation marks). In the WordBasic Help window, select the Statements and Functions Index topic, choose the S button, and then select the ScreenUpdating topic.
