SYMPTOMSThe Macintosh Balloon Help feature does not display balloons in any of the Word 6.0 for the Macintosh dialog boxes when you point at them (to activate Balloon Help, choose Show Balloons from the Help menu). By contrast, both Word 5.x and Word 98 support Balloon Help in dialog boxes.
CAUSEThis behavior represents a change in the design specification for Word 6.0.
MORE INFORMATIONApple introduced Balloon Help in System 7.0. With Balloon Help active, when you point at an item (either in an application or at the Finder level), a balloon caption displays that describes the function of the object.
